We listen, act, and transform
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor [LMHC] in NY with a passion to help people overcome patterns in their lives that are not serving them. My clients appreciate my deep listening, patience, and persistence. My professional background ranges from working with people struggling with severe and persistent mental illness to those struggling with life transitions and stressors. I have years of experience running groups focused on men's trauma, depression, anxiety, co-occurring substance abuse and mental health conditions, and anger management. Seeing both the struggles and resilience from people with whom I worked, I developed a passion for valuing each of the parts that we all have and how they are trying to help us, even if we are not where we want to be.
You can expect that I will be collaborative and curious. I often ask probing questions and reflect my understanding of what I am hearing (and not hearing) to try and understand where my clients are coming from. I believe that using curiosity can help us bring more compassion and less judgment to our experiences which allows us to begin working on developing strategies to help process and understand feelings and work on managing behaviors and thoughts. My style can range based on the individual as I rotate between how directive I am based on what will have someone. I was told by a client how they appreciated that I didn't give them the answers but helped them get there themselves.
